This past week was my daughter's spring break from school so the family packed up the car and headed east to Yosemite National Park. Instead of camping, we stayed in a Yurt, which is a cross between a cabin and a tent. Needless to say, we sure didn't rough it as we had a bed, bathroom with shower, kitchen, and satellite TV. However, it was in a beautiful area and we even had a hiking trail going from our yurt to a pretty creek.
Even though it was a little cold, it was a gorgeous week to take in the beautiful sights of Yosemite. My only complaint was the many cars and crowds, which was a little surprising. I thought that there would be less people at this time of year, but I was indeed wrong. My husband tells me it's even worse in the summer.
The next day, we stayed outside of Yosemite Valley and went on a 5.5 miles hike on the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. Our destination point was the Wapama Falls, which was amazing, and our hike was a lot of fun. Along the way, we encountered other waterfalls, creeks, and lots of rocky terrain and bridges. We were worried that big "e" might not make it all the ways since it's kind of a long hike for a 5 year old, but she did great! Little "e" got to ride in a backpack carried by dad so he had a lot of fun too and even enjoyed a little snooze along the way. We truly had a great adventure and can't wait to go back!
